Welcoming our first baby into the world at the end of February was an incredible experience for my fiancé and me. Now that our little one has turned three months old, we've had the chance to put numerous baby products to the test—some have been life-saving, while others fell short of our expectations. While we're still navigating new parenthood and far from being experts, I'm excited to share our favorite products from the first three months.
Clutter is something I simply can't tolerate, so finding the right drying rack for our baby bottles was essential. The Oxo Tot Drying Rack caught my eye immediately—it takes up minimal space, is unlikely to develop mold, and blends seamlessly with our kitchen decor. We've been using it daily without any complaints.
In those early postpartum days, this sink basin proved to be a true workhorse. With the unexpected need to exclusively pump for the first three weeks, it became indispensable for managing the constant stream of bottles and pump parts. I appreciate that it keeps our baby's dishes separate from ours, providing a dedicated space for soaking until we can tackle them. Our sterilizer also deserves an honorable mention—it's still in daily use.
While it may be a bit on the pricier side, our BabyBjorn bouncer has earned its keep by being used daily. Unlike the swing, which went untouched, our little one enjoys sitting in the bouncer while I prepare meals or fold laundry. It's the perfect spot for him to observe our activities and interact with us, even if only for short periods. Here is a more budget-friendly option.
Transitioning to the nursery, we've become obsessed with this wipeable changing pad from Skip Hop. Offering a more affordable alternative to the well-known Keekaroo, it's a game-changer when it comes to messy diaper changes. Instead of adding more laundry to our never-ending list of chores, we simply wipe it clean and move on.
Featuring a yoga-mat-like texture, this changing pad has become a staple in our household. Its compact fold and wipeable material make it ideal for quick diaper changes, whether we're at home or on the go. We keep one downstairs in our diaper caddy for easy access, and it's perfect for tossing into the car or diaper bag when needed.
Initially, I brushed off the idea of a car camera, believing the regular mirror was sufficient and not wanting cords cluttering up my car. However, the moment my son entered the picture, reality hit hard—I could barely see him in the mirror, especially at night. That's when we decided to give the car camera a try, and it's been a game-changer. Despite the cords, its benefits far outweigh any inconvenience. I particularly appreciate its windshield suction feature, a must-have for me as I didn't want a projectile resting on my dashboard.
Sometimes, it's the simplest things that become lifesavers. Wet bags have been one of our most-used products over the past three months. We always keep them in the diaper bag, and whenever we're out and about—whether it's dealing with a car seat blowout, a sudden projectile vomit incident in a restaurant, or a little pee mishap—dirty or wet clothes go straight into the wet bag. When we return home, we just dump the contents into the washing machine. No more scrambling for plastic bags or worrying about soiling the rest of the diaper bag—this idea gets a solid 10/10 from us!
